Earnings calendar preview: GE Vernova

GE Vernova (GEV) is "one of the key beneficiaries of the power demand growth story, given its leading position in gas turbines and electrification equipment," Susquehanna analysts Charles Minervino and Eric Clay write in a fourth-quarter earnings preview for green energy stocks.

Wall Street expects GE Vernova – which was spun off from the old General Electric in April 2024 – to report earnings of $3.12 per share (+80.3% year over year) on revenue of $10.22 billion (-3.2% YoY) before the closing bell on Wednesday.

Citing an electrification backlog that's expected to grow from approximately $30 billion to about $60 billion by 2028, Minervino and Clay, who forecast revenue of $10.3 billion for the fourth quarter, have a Positive (Buy) rating and an $800 12-month target price on GEV stock.

Minervino and Clay note that GE Vernova announced 18 gigawatts (GW) of new gas equipment contracts for the quarter to date at its investor day in December and "expects to reach approximately 80 GW of orders by year-end" vs a previous estimate of 70 GW.

"Demand has shown no signs of slowing," the analysts conclude, "and the company has continued to operate in a price-up environment for new orders, driving margin expansion as higher-priced orders convert in the backlog."

Earnings calendar preview: Apple

Apple (AAPL), which rallied more than 44% after "Liberation Day" through the end of 2025 even as Wall Street worried about the impact of President Donald Trump's tariffs on the stock, will report fiscal 2026 first-quarter results after the closing bell on Thursday.

Wall Street expects the iPhone maker to report EPS of $2.67 (+11.3% YoY) on revenue of $138.45 billion (+11.8% YoY).

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives is focused on fiscal 2026 second-quarter news, specifically Apple's selection of Alphabet (GOOGL) and Google's Gemini to power AI features for its products, including Siri, "at some point" in calendar 2026.

"This multi-year partnership will leverage Google's Gemini models and cloud technology for future Apple foundation models," Ives writes. "This is what the Street has been waiting for with the elephant in the room for Cupertino revolving around its invisible AI strategy."

The deal "is an incremental positive to both AAPL and GOOGL as a major validation moment for Google as a premier foundation model and for Apple as a stepping stone to accelerate its AI strategy into 2026 and beyond."

Ives maintained his Outperform rating and his $350 12-month target price on AAPL, and the tech stock remains on the Wedbush Best Ideas List and the IVES AI 30 List.

Earnings calendar preview: American Express

American Express (AXP) is unlikely to see the volume and earnings boost Capital One Financial (COF) enjoyed from its relationship with Taylor Swift and that pop star's "Eras" tour, but the Dow Jones stock is well positioned to benefit from a broader roster of acts that includes Harry Styles and the upcoming "Love on Tour" roadshow.

Indeed, during its third quarter, American Express posted strong growth driven by millennials and Gen Z, who now account for 36% of total card spending, equal to Gen X's share. Younger cohorts are increasing transaction volume by 25% vs older Amex cardholders.

"We continue to believe the Gen-Z/millennial cohort will represent strong ROI for Amex over the long term," William Blair analyst Cristopher Kennedy writes, noting that data suggest Gen Z and millennials are "are more engaged, give American Express a higher share of wallet, and have lower servicing costs."

American Express is scheduled to disclose fourth-quarter earnings before the opening bell on Friday. Wall Street expects management of the financial stock to report earnings of $3.53 per share (+16.1% year over year) on revenue of $18.93 billion (+10.2% YoY).

Kennedy has an Outperform (Buy) rating on AXP stock but has not shared a 12-month target price.
