Earnings calendar preview: TD Synnex

TD Synnex (SNX) is among just a handful of tech stocks that have avoided the sell-off in software and other industries vulnerable to artificial intelligence (AI), posting a year-to-date total return of 9.4% through March 25 vs losses of 4.9% for the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) and 3.4% for the S&P 500.

Wall Street expects TD Synnex, formed in a September 2021 merger between Tech Data and Synnex, to report fiscal 2026 first-quarter earnings of $3.31 per share (+18.2% year over year) on revenue of $15.65 billion (+7.7% YoY) before the opening bell on Tuesday.

Its core function is to distribute hardware, software and services within the tech ecosystem, connecting more than 1,500 vendors such as Microsoft (MSFT), Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Palo Alto Networks (PANW).

CFRA Research analyst Shreya Gheewala reiterated her Buy rating on SNX stock in an earnings preview based on the company's strong position in cloud, cybersecurity and AI computing, as well as geographic diversification and tailwinds from the Windows refresh cycle and enterprise IT spending recovery through fiscal 2026.

Gheewala cut her 12-month target price from $147 to $132, citing near-term pressure on margins and cash flow due to challenges facing its Hyve digital infrastructure subsidiary, though these challenges are temporary, not structural.

"Management's maintained guidance for mid-single-digit billings growth and $1.1 billion free cash flow in fiscal 2025 supports our confidence in the company's fundamental outlook," the analyst concludes.

Earnings calendar preview: Nike

Nike (NKE) offers an example of the broad potential impact of the war between the U.S., Israel and Iran: The No. 1 question on the mind of UBS analyst Jay Sole when it comes to the release of the consumer discretionary stock's fiscal 2026 third-quarter earnings report after the closing bell on Tuesday is about the Middle East.

Sole's question is actually in three parts: "What percentage of Nike sales come from the Middle East? If oil prices stay near current levels, what impact would it have on product costs? If the conflict continues, what does Nike believe the impact to its ocean shipping expense and domestic freight costs will be?"

These questions are relevant for many multinationals right now. Sole would also like to know how a recent Supreme Court ruling against President Donald Trump's tariffs will affect Nike's business.

China, a key market for the athleisure giant, is on the analyst's mind, too, as are management's fiscal 2027 outlook and six more issues: a $300 million restructuring charge; sales for new products; progress for key categories such as running and women's apparel; wholesale margins; and AI, including potential impact on sales and margins.

Wall Street expects Nike to report EPS of 28 cents (-48.1% YoY) on revenue of $11.23 billion (-0.4% YoY). Sole has a Neutral (Hold) rating and a 12-month target price of $58 for NKE stock.
