Target's Best Black Friday Doorbusters and Deals

The big-box retailer is throwing in free gift cards as added incentives on some already discounted items.

Target is a must-visit destination for many holiday shoppers each year -- especially for its Black Friday sales. Starting at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, customers can shop in-store to gain early access to the retailer's Black Friday doorbuster sale. There will be deep discounts on everything from toys to TVs, as well as a wide variety of home goods.

We talked with several shopping experts -- NerdWallet.com’s Courtney Jespersen, DealNews.com’s Benjamin Glaser, BFAds.net’s Brent Shelton and BradsDeals.com’s Rebecca Lehmann -- about which of Target’s Black Friday deals are worth taking advantage of during their limited-time sale. Below you’ll find the eight items they recommend shoppers have on their radar.

It’s important to note that many of Target’s Black Friday doorbuster deals will be available in limited quantities. So if there are any items not available online, plan to get to your local store well in advance of the 6 p.m. start time on November 24 to ensure you’re able to purchase a desired item.

Apple Watch Series 1. If you aren’t in a rush to drop $370 on Apple’s latest Series 2 watch, you can score big savings on the first-generation model on Black Friday at Target, Jespersen says. The Series 1 version will be on sale starting at $200 (regular price $272). It comes with a dual-core processor, allows you to check your calendar and reply to text messages, tracks your daily activity and monitors your heart rate.

Apple iPad Pro 9.7-inch Tablet . Target’s doorbuster deal on this iPad Pro model is one of the best among big-box retailers, Glaser notes. Originally priced starting at $600, it will be marked down 25% (starting at $450) during their Black Friday sale (at Best Buy you’ll pay $25 more). That’s an extra $150 to keep in your wallet or use to purchase other holiday gifts.

Beats Solo2 Wireless On-Ear Headphones. Lehmann points out that shoppers will save $180 on these headphones -- from the popular Beats by Dr. Dre brand -- that will be on sale for $120 (regular price $300) starting at 6 p.m. on November 24. That’s less than half-price. The headphones are Bluetooth compatible and come with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 12 hours.

DVDs . Select movie titles, including “Mad Max,” “Despicable Me” and “Pitch Perfect 2,” will be available for $4 on Black Friday. “Target’s low-price selection of movies will make for great stocking stuffers,” Jespersen says.

Fitbit Charge HR . Activity trackers are still a very popular gift item, which makes Target’s doorbuster deal on the Fitbit Charge HR even more appealing, Jespersen adds. On sale for $90, you’ll get 30% off the regular price of $130. Jespersen reminds holiday shoppers that most of these doorbuster deals will sell out quick. If you don’t want to miss out, you’ll need to line up early on Thanksgiving Day.

Samsung 55-inch 4K Curved Smart Ultra HDTV . This smart TV will be priced at $700 on Black Friday. That’s a markdown of nearly 35% (regular price $1,100). It’s a 4K high definition TV set, which offers the best screen resolution currently available. While Target’s price is one of the best, what makes it a must-have deal for those on the market for a new television is the free $70 store gift card that comes with it, Shelton notes.

Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge . Several retailers are offering deals on Samsung smartphones, but Target’s Black Friday doorbuster deal on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models is the stand-out, Lehmann says. In addition to putting no money down (for customers with good credit who agree to an installment billing contract) and receiving a $250 store gift card, customers will also get a free Samsung Gear VR Headset and Oculus Content Package worth $149, she adds. The headset and content package allows for a virtual reality gaming and video streaming experience.

Xbox One S 500GB Minecraft or Battlefield 1 Bundle. This videogame console is priced at $250 (regular price $300) at most retailers -- including Target -- for Black Friday, but what makes Target’s deal worth the purchase is the $40 store gift card that’s thrown in, Shelton notes. It can be used toward the purchase of this game system, making the final cost even cheaper, or toward a separate purchase in-store or online. “Only Kohl’s has a better deal that offers $75 in Kohl’s Cash, but you need to be a Kohl’s member to receive the bonus,” he adds.
