I have over a decade of experience writing about the stock market and have covered corporate earnings reports and stock reactions over that time frame. I find corporate earnings to be so important because they allow investors a closer look into the strength of a company's fundamentals and how these may impact its share price down the road.

I am the former managing editor and chief investment strategist of Utility Forecaster, which was named one of "10 investment newsletters to read besides Buffett's" in 2015. Earnings calendar recap: Cisco Systems
Cisco Systems (CSCO) is one of two Dow Jones stocks on the earnings calendar, with the networking equipment specialist disclosing its fiscal 2026 first-quarter results after Wednesday's close.
For the three months ending October 25, the company reported earnings of $1.00 per share, up 10% year over year, on revenue of $14.9 billion (+8% YoY). Analysts expected earnings of 98 cents per share on revenue of $14.8 billion.
UBS Global Research analyst David Vogt upgraded CSCO to Buy from Neutral (Hold) ahead of earnings and raised his price target to $88 from $74, representing implied upside of nearly 20% to current levels.
"We upgrade Cisco … based on a multi-year growth cycle driven by AI infrastructure demand, a large-scale Campus refresh cycle, and momentum in Security," says Vogt.
He expects fiscal 2026 revenue to arrive 4% to 6% higher than the average analyst estimate, driven by AI strength from hyperscalers and the Campus refresh cycle that will provide "a key tailwind" over the next two years.

Earnings calendar recap: Walt Disney
Walt Disney (DIS) is another blue chip stock on the earnings calendar. The entertainment and media giant reported its fiscal fourth-quarter results ahead of Thursday's open, sending shares down sharply in reaction.
For the three months ending September 27, Disney said earnings slipped 3% from the year prior to $1.11 per share, beating analysts' estimate for earnings of $1.02 per share. However, revenue of $22.46 billion, down 0.5% year over year, fell short of the $22.8 billion Wall Street expected on weakness in its linear TV segment.
Still, Disney saw solid revenue growth in streaming (revenue +8% YoY) and Experiences (+6% YoY).
