Tax Day Freebies and Deals 2016
Tax Day can be, well, taxing, but at least the pressure is off. Now it’s time to de-stress with free (or nearly so) food and drink, along with other tempting deals.

Even better, there’s more time to enjoy Tax Day freebies and special offers from restaurants and retailers in 2016. Federal income tax returns, usually due April 15, are due on April 18 this year. The IRS moved the deadline to Monday for most taxpayers because the traditional April 15 due date conflicts with Emancipation Day , a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. Taxpayers in Maine and Massachusetts have until April 19 to file because the extended deadline clashes with Patriots’ Day, a legal holiday in those states.
No matter where you live, it’s a sweet deal for procrastinators. And speaking of sweet deals, let’s get to our list (deals valid April 18 only unless otherwise indicated):
Buca di Beppo. The old-style Italian restaurant chain is serving up a big ol’ plate of “tax break” with a coupon good for 18% off your tab. It’s good through April 18 for dining in or for orders to go.
Boston Market. Celebrate Tax Day with a real special meal special. Customers can score a Half Chicken Individual Meal with cornbread and two sides, a fountain drink and a cookie for – wait for it -- $10.40.
Bruegger’s Bagels. Snag this online Time For Some Tax Relief coupon and you could walk out of participating Bruegger’s with 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese for $10.40. That’s a savings of $3.50. Valid April 15-18.
California Tortilla. Tax Day means free chips and queso with any purchase at California Tortilla. But you have to know the secret password. Sources tell us it’s “Tax Man.”
Chili’s. What’s Tax Day without a cheap drink? On Monday you can land a Presidente Margarita for $5.
Great American Cookie. Stop by a Great American Cookie shop on Monday for this Tax Day freebie: A free original chocolate chip cookie, while supplies last. No purchase necessary.
Hard Rock Café. Yes, they’re still around. And yes, they’re offering up a freebie on Tax Day – but you have to sing for it. Really. Get up on stage and sing your favorite song (rather, the “favorite song” from a list supplied by Hard Rock). In return, Hard Rock will offer you some swag: A free Legendary hamburger.
HydroMassage. This Florida-based chain is offering free massages – via heated and swirling water beds – April 18-22. New this year: The freebie includes the HydroMassage locations in participating Planet Fitness gyms.You’ll need that coupon, however. It's available online Monday.
Kona Ice. Kona’s calling Tax Day National Chill Out Day – and they’ll bring those cold drinks via Kona Ice trucks to tax preparation centers and post offices throughout the land. If you’re on Twitter, the company suggests sending a tweet to “@KonaIce” with your ZIP code to find the truck nearest you.
Noodles & Co. This fast-casual chain has a hot online-ordering deal. Go to the website and order your food; when you’re checking out, use the code “TAXDAY” and boom! Four bucks off your purchase of $10 or more. The online deal runs April 11-18. And on Monday, Tax Day, bring your child in for a free kids meal (when you buy any regular entrée).
Office Depot/OfficeMax. Get the online coupon and have up to five pounds of paper shredded for free through April 23.
Schlotzsky’s. This deli favorite will load you up with a free Original sandwich on Monday if you buy a 32-ounce drink and chips.

Sonny’s BBQ. Sonny’s rolls out its Irresistible Ribs Special – IRS, get it? – on Tax Day. That means half-price Sweet & Smokey or House Dry-Rubbed Rib Dinners.
Staples. Shred up to five pounds of paper for free on Tax Day.
World of Beer. Free beer? You bet. WOB is handing out free select draughts on Tax Day. In states where beer giveaways are prohibited, the chain will knock five bucks off your tab.
