Michael Cherny

Michael Cherny leads Citizens Financial Group's Wealth Management Advisor business. Since joining Citizens in early 2024, Michael has driven a meaningful cultural and performance transformation across the Wealth Management organization. By actively listening to and engaging with advisors, internal partner and clients, he has empowered teams to elevate client service, deepen relationships, and accelerate business growth. Under his leadership, the division continues to scale its capabilities and expand its impact.

With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Michael brings deep experience and expertise to his role. Prior to Citizens, he spent 18 years at JPMorgan, where he held progressively senior leadership positions in both the Consumer Bank and Wealth Management businesses. His strategic vision and leadership were instrumental in scaling the firm's national wealth management platform.

Outside of his professional achievements, Michael is known for his commitment to mentoring emerging leaders in the financial services industry and for his active involvement in community initiatives.

He resides in New York with his wife and four children. In his free time, Michael enjoys coaching his children's hockey teams, skiing and playing tennis.
