Benjamin Tice Smith

Benjamin Tice Smith writes for Kiplinger about collecting and caring for all kinds of vintage technology. He has worn many hats in journalism over almost 40 years, serving as a photographer, writer and editor at Education Week, Business 2.0 and Motormouths.com.

Ben has driven and repaired classic cars for decades. In his spare time, he can be found exploring remote roads of Northern California in his 1994 Mazda Miata, 1972 Volvo 1800E, or his 1964 Morgan Plus 4.

Ben also has a long history of listening to and repairing vintage high-fidelity equipment. His main stereo system includes speakers built in the 2000's, a preamplifier from the 1990's, a turntable from the 1970's and an amplifier that his father built from a kit in 1960.
