"Whether we face an active hurricane season, like this year, or a below-normal season, the crucial message for every person is the same: prepare, prepare, prepare," said Max Mayfield, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Hurricane Center.NOAA expects 13 to 16 named storms in the north Atlantic, with eight to ten becoming hurricanes. That doesn't match last year's record of 28 storms, but it does top the average 11 storms during the Atlantic hurricane season, according to NOAA.
