Those who served in the military can take advantage of special deals and discounts November 11.

Businesses will honor the men and women who served our country this Veterans Day, November 11, by offering them freebies and discounts. So if you're a veteran, active-duty or retired military personnel, you don't want to miss out on these deals. (Note: Most businesses will require you to show proof of service.)

Free food

Applebee's will say thank you to military members with a free meal November 11 (dine-in only).

Champps Americana Restaurant will offer free burgers to veterans and active-duty military November 11 at participating locations.

Chili's is offering a free meal to veterans and active-duty military between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. November 11.

Denny's will offer a free Grand Slam breakfast 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. November 11 in select restaurants in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Famous Dave's will offer free meals or special discounts November 11 at participating locations.

Golden Corral will hold its 10th annual military appreciation dinner Monday, November 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to anyone who has ever served in the military (no ID required).

Hooters will have free wings (with a drink purchase) for vets and active-duty military personnel November 11 at participating restaurants.

Krispy Kreme will give a free doughnut to anyone who has served in the military (at some stores -- check to see if your store is participating).

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants will offer veterans a free meal from a special menu Sunday, November 13, at participating locations. Reservations are encouraged.

Olive Garden will say thanks to veterans and active-duty military with a free entrée November 11.

Outback Steakhouse will honor veterans and active military with a free Bloomin' Onion and Coca-Cola November 7 through 11.

7-Eleven will have a Slurpee Salute November 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at participating locations. Veterans, active and retired military (and their immediate family) will receive a free small slurpee.

Spaghetti Warehouse has a coupon for a buy one lasagna or original recipe spaghetti and get another one for only 11 cents.

Subway is offering a free six-inch sub to veterans November 11 at some locations (calll your local restaurant to see if it is participating).

Texas Roadhouse will honor vets and active-duty military with a free lunch (from a special menu) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. November 11.

T.G.I. Friday's will offer veterans and military personnel a free entrée with the purchase of an entrée November 11.

Twin Peaks is offering a free entrée (up to $10) to all military personnel November 11.

Uno Chicago Grill is offering military 19.43% off November 7 through 11.

Free park admission

Anheuser-Busch Parks offers free admission to active-duty personnel and up to three dependents.

Colonial Williamsburg offers free admission November 11 through 13 to active-duty military, veterans and retired military and their dependents.

Knotts Berry Farm offers free admission for veterans and active-duty military and one guest November 1 through 24.

U.S. National Parks will waive entrance fees at more than 100 parks November 11 through 13.

Retail discounts

Big Lots will offer those with a miltary ID 10% off their purchase November 11.

Cabela's will give its employee discount (5% to 20%) to veterans and military, law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel November 10 and 11.

Dollar General will offer a 10% discount to veterans, active-duty and retired military and their immediate family in stores November 11 and online November 11 through 13 (use coupon code VETERANSDAY).
