Need to apply for Social Security benefits? How about getting a Social Security replacement card? A quick trip to your local Social Security field office is one way to accomplish these tasks in person -- as long as the office is open.

Office hours are limited, and if there's a holiday coming up it's especially important to confirm that your local field office won't be closed. Social Security field offices usually aren't open on federal holidays.
