Great Debt Advice From Around the Web
Jeff Rose, a certified financial planner and creator of the Good Financial Cents blog, has launched the Debt Movement along with ReadyForZero and other financial bloggers to challenge people to pay down $10 million of debt by April 30, 2013. To provide an incentive for people to pay off their debt, the Debt Movement will be awarding $15,000 in scholarships, in increments of $2,000, $1,000 and $500. To be eligible, you must join the movement and complete a debt scholarship application (learn more.)
Rose created the movement because his dad struggled with debt and died owing money. He writes on his blog that he wants to help others struggling with the same issue. Since the movement was launched January 2, more than 900 people have joined and have already paid off more than $20,000 in debt.
