If your bored with Bordeaux, consider the Olson Ogden 2003 Unti Vineyard Syrah -- the second Rhone varietal release from this label. The Syrah grape, known as Shiraz in Australia, is historically tied to France's Rhone region, but the grapes for this Olson Ogden wine come from Unti Vineyards in California's Dry Creek Valley.

Released in February to the vineyard's mailing list at $29 a bottle ($348 a case), the wine will be available to retailers in early July.

You can enjoy it now, but Ogden says it will be even better if cellared five to seven years.

Only 109 cases were made. In fact, Tim Olson and John Ogden say they plan to never make more than 1,000 cases of wine a year. "We are a small boutique winery and intend to keep it that way," Ogden says. To order from Olson Ogden, you must join the mailing list at www.olsonogdenwines.com, which also gives you the perk of free shipping. Otherwise, they will refer you to a retailer.
