Take Advantage of Free Admission to National Parks
The entrance fee to America's great landmarks and natural wonders will be waived for an entire week.

If you noticed that the daily Kip Tips column wasn't quite daily this past week, that's because I was on vacation. Actually, it was a staycation.
My kids were off for spring break, so I hung out with them all week. One of the things we did was visit Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky (where I live). We didn't have to pay a dime because we just hiked the trails in the forest that surrounds the cave. But I may take them back to actually see the cave sometime during the week of April 16 through April 24 because admission is free.
In fact, the entrance fee for all 394 national parks will be waived during National Park Week. Some of the parks have special events planned during the week, too.
You can use the National Park Service's interactive map to find a park near you. If you plan on staying overnight, you'll still have to pay for camping or lodging. But pitching a tent at a national park is a great way to save money on a weekend (or weekday) getaway.
