September is National Coupon Month. I have to admit that I've never been a fan of clipping coupons. However, I love coupon codes that you can use to save money on online purchases. Coupon sites make it easy to find these codes and use them for things you actually need -- as opposed to buying something just because you found a coupon for it. (See 21 Web Sites for Finding Deals Online for my favorite coupon sites.)

If you're a coupon novice, there's a great new site with loads of resources that will turn you into a pro. I Love Coupon Month, launched by Coupon Sherpa, has a long list of sources for coupon codes, printable coupons, mobile coupons and more. It also will be offering a money-saving coupon tip, such as Rules for Pairing Coupons With Sales, each day of National Coupon Month.

To further celebrate this month, I wanted to announce new application that tracks how much you have saved with coupons. The application allows you to enter your coupon savings (The store, amount saved, and date are entered). You can generate a report from your coupon savings and post it to your Facebook wall or blog. I am an avid coupon user, but I was surprised that in less then 3 months I managed a savings of over $667.60 using coupons. Enough savings for a recent trip to Hawaii! The application has turned in a competition between my husband and I to see how much we can save using coupons this year. US and Canadian stores are built in but any store is available to be entered. The free application is available at groceryalerts dot ca slash coupontracker.
