Free Admission to National Parks June 9
If you're looking for something to do this weekend, consider heading to a nearby national park. That's because the entrance fee for all 397 national parks will be waived June 9 for "Get Outdoors Day." Some of the parks have special events planned that day, such as an early morning birding program at the Homestead National Monument in Nebraska.

With a national park in every state (except Delaware), you shouldn't have to travel too far to get to one. You can use the National Park Service's interactive map to find a park near you. If you plan on staying overnight, you'll still have to pay for camping or lodging. But pitching a tent at a national park is a great way to save money on a weekend (or weekday) getaway.

If you can't make it to a national park June 9, aim for September 29 when entrance fees will be waived again.
